Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas: "A woman from Khath'am came during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah upon His servants regarding Hajj has become due for my father, who is an old man and cannot sit firmly on his mount. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf?' He said: 'Yes.'"

Narrated by Ibn Abbas: "A woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'My mother vowed to perform Hajj but she died before she could do so. Shall I perform Hajj on her behalf?' He said: 'Yes, perform Hajj on her behalf. Tell me, if your mother had a debt, would you pay it off? Fulfill the duty to Allah, for Allah is more deserving of fulfillment.'"

"Scholars have unanimously agreed on the permissibility of performing Hajj and Umrah on behalf of a person who is permanently unable to do so (such as due to old age or chronic illness). It is also permissible to perform Umrah on behalf of a deceased person, whether they had requested it or not."
